Haute Looks: Boy Meets Girl USA Fall 2011 Presentation

This past Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the Fall 2011 Boy Meets Girl USA 2011 Presentation at the Metropolitan Pavilion for New York Fashion Week. Sponsored by Style 360 and Polaroid, the event was one of the most fun experiences of all fashion week. A mixed crowd of editors, bloggers, photographers, and celebrities included the likes of songstress Kat Deluna, the fabulous Jay Alexander, and even Danielle Staub of Real Housewives of New Jersey. The opening of the show consisted of a beautiful performance by Natasha Bedingfield that had every fashion maven in attendance clapping their hands along to the beat.

I was especially excited for the presentation after interviewing the designer, Stacy Igel on both HAUTE NYC and frockOn.com. I have compiled a few of my favorite looks from the show. For all of my thoughts on the event, check out my article on frockOn. xO

NYCAngela: Fashion Week Day 1

Tis the season to be fashionable! Fashion Week has finally hit New York City for the best designers in the business to showcase their Autumn / Winter 2011 collections. As I approached Lincoln Center for the first day of fashion week, the fashion rush took over me as I found myself surrounded by the most beautiful and influential people in the business. The Duckie Brown AW2011 collection began slightly later than the original 1pm scheduled time, but fashionably late is always a good thing. The tent was packed as Duckie fans surrounded the perimeter before the lights went dim.  The menswear collection consisted of a mostly neutral, earth tone palette.

Coincidentally,  my outfit of the day matched along with the theme! In an outfit all by H&M, I donned an oatmeal button up cardigan over a dark grey cami top. I matched those with a comfortable camel trouser and taupe lace up boots from Forever 21.To accessorize, I added my very own Samantha House Toni necklace from SpoilMeFashion.com that has easily become my favorite item! Check it out!

At the beginning of the month, I had the pleasure of working with Karen Gorell, owner of SpoilMeFashion.com while shooting the FrockOn.com reality show pilot. We all gushed over the latest jewelry and accessories on and off camera. I instantly fell in love with the Samantha House Toni Necklace. The amber color is so beautiful and every agate stone is unique & different from the next.

Karen was nice enough to send me my own Samantha House Toni Necklace & I cannot stop wearing it. The stones seem even brighter and more elegant than the ones I previously saw, which enhanced more of a deeper hue. This proves the authenticity of the stones and the stylish gold chain adds an instant glam effect.

To enhance the necklace, I originally decided to wear the necklace more casually, as well as inside away from the cold. One of my friends picked up this beautiful scarf for me from a street vendor in Morocco.  The scarf brings out the intense colors of the necklace, dressing up a simple cozy sweater & jeans.

While looking into my closet, I noticed a Forever 21 leatherette jacket in this beautiful amber-meets-mahogany color. Because this jacket is bright on its own, I decided to match it up with a black tank and a dark wash jean, also from Forever 21. A chunky black knit scarf from H&M is wearable with almost everything. My boots are my favorite because they are vintage. They were tucked away in my grandmother’s closet & passed along to me. Nothing beats an authentic 1960s leather boot! Love! The Samantha House Toni Necklace complements the color of the jacket & works perfectly together.

How To: Get the Best Beach Waves

It doesn’t have to be summer all year-long to get some fabulous beach waves. With just a few sprays of  FX Special Effects Shag Spray my waves go from drab to fab. After applying the spray evenly throughout my hair, I french braid my locks and let air dry. In a hurry? You can get the same effect by using a hair dryer on warm after weaving the braid.

I use it almost everyday because it leaves my waves so pronounced but soft at the same time. Shag Spray has been my savior from the evil straightening iron all summer because it looks great without spending hours on your hair. Since breaking off ties with the straightener, my hair has actually grown significantly this summer.

Because I believe in this product so much, I will be giving out a gift bag with FX Special Effects Hair Products to my 400th twitter follower on @NYCAngela, courtesy of the amazing people at LaForce + Stevens! You must also be following my newest twitter for the site, @HAUTENYC In all honestly, whether you win or not – go out and try it! You won’t be disappointed.

First: Spritz Shag Spray through hair.

Second: Weave a tight french braid. Add more Shag Spray if necessary.

Third: Let air dry. Toussle hair with fingers & Enjoy.

Sometimes all you need is a pair of heels to make an outfit complete. A simple pair of jean shorts matched with a button down is comfortable, casual, and chic. What more could a girl ask for really? These Aldo heels are my favorite. The brown hue flatters almost any color and makes my Sunday gear much more fashion friendly. It’s not about how much you spend, it’s about what you put together! Happy Sunday everyone =)
