Haute Music: Lifted Crew

This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of hearing the amazing sound of hip-hop group Lifted Crew at Greenhouse in SoHo. Lifted has just signed on for a monthly residency at the swanky NYC ‘haute’ spot. Lifted Crew completely rocked the club at Greenhouse this Thursday! They also brought along an impressive crowd including the singer/songwriter kin of Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Fredo as well as music producer and humanitarian Mike Jean Baptiste. I was in attendance with the fabulous Melanie of, rubbing shoulders with all the high profile individuals. Check out some of our photos from the event here.

Greenhouse is definitely a sight to see. They truly bring the term “going green” to new levels! Greenhouse is a bi-level upscale club located on the lower west side of Manhattan. Inside you will find walls made of sustainable bamboo as a greener alternative to wooden panels. Greenhouse brings a glamorous yet earthy vibe, showcasing a huge waterfall inside and an abundance of live plants. However, going green doesn’t necessarily come free. Drinks are moderately priced for Manhattan party-goers, but the ambiance will make you quickly forget that $15 you just spent on your mixed drink. To check out what else Greenhouse has to offer, check out their website.

If you’re in NYC and you NEED to check out Lifted Crew at Greenhouse. Check out the crew on Facebook & MySpace for more details about performances!

People’s Sexiest Man Alive: Ryan Reynolds

So it’s that time of year again when People Magazine picks their sexiest man alive. Who else but then the hot Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds to scorch the pages of the latest issue of People and hold the coveted title. Besides being married to smoking hot Scarlett Johansson, Reynolds wins the hearts of millions of women in movies like The Proposal, and is gearing up as the Green Lantern, coming out in 2011.

In case you don’t take People Magazine‘s word for it, here are a few photos to help you realize how they may of made their decision. 🙂

Patches of Pumpkins

Now that all of my bikini’s are tucked away for the year, it is time to embrace the beauty of fall foliage. Pumpkin picking is always something I look forward to during autumn. Every once in a while it is a nice to escape the chaos of city life and allow yourself some in the countryside. This yearly ritual between the boyfriend and I is enjoyable for all ages. Despite the negative reputation New Jersey is getting from shows like Jersey Shore, going to these orchards and pumpkin farms made me feel as if we were in a foreign land. Wholesome fun including hay rides, petting zoos, pumpkin patches are so nostalgic of youth family outings. For a little nostalgia in your life, here are my top picks for your favorite fall festivities.

Timo Weiland Spring 2011 Presentation

The Timo Weiland Spring 2011 presentation was an absolute honor to attend. On Sunday September 12th at Lincoln Center, the oceanic inspired collection made me immediately wish I was out to sea, on a fabulous yacht of course! The collection was a delight to embrace. Menswear featured skillfully crafted cotton seersucker suits, striped blazers as well as fisherman coats. Men’s espadrilles featured were designed by Soludos while paired with striped socks. Men’s leather shoes were Timo Weiland x Esquivel.

Scandinavian fjordlands was also such a huge inspiration for the collection. The female looks were bold and playful, with the most chic retro shades. Glittery pink and blacked out, I was instantly obsessed. On the flip side, all of the guys were wearing the exact same glasses donned by Timo Weiland himself! There was an eye-popping red hue that I adore throughout the female looks. Soft yellows, and muted blues and grays painted such a beautiful picture of what spring attire SHOULD be. I can already see those quirky prints and striped knits flowing so beautifully in a warm spring breeze. Stuart Weitzman provided the delicate womens shoes.

Celebrity sightings at the Presentation included Gillian Jacobs and actress Shenae Grimes.  Debuting at the presentation on Sunday was the Timo Weiland short film “The Watch”  produced in collaboration with artist Ryan McNamara, while directed by Shal Ngo.  In case you weren’t able to attend, here’s a link!

The fun continued later that night when Samurai Love Sake and celebrated Timo Weiland Spring 2011 collection at Ohm, a fabulous luxury property with a perfect view overlooking the Highline. The celebration was enhanced with a live performance by The Rassle. Attendees sipped saki with the likes of celebrity baseball player Daryl Strawberry and hip hop artist John Brown.

Colombia Luxury Show Recap

On Friday, August 27th, I had the honor of attending my first Colombian fashion show. The first ever Colombia Luxury Show featured the best of the country’s fashion, beauty, health and tourism. As a prelude to New York Fashion Week right around the corner, this show was filled with fabulous people, art, and fashion.

The two day event kicked off at The Altman Building in New York City Friday night. As I walked around I found the most intriguing Colombian art work and high fashion on display from the second you walk in. Fabulous jewelry by Colombian designer, Mercedes Salazar, was a beautiful added touch on the displayed fashion. Work by Colombian photographers including Carlos Ruiz and Mauricio Velez. hung elegantly from the ceilings on display for the lucky invites.

Andrea Riaño, general manager of the Colombia Luxury Lifestyle Show gushed,
“We wanted New York to enjoy the real image of our country, Colombia – our land,
our culture, our people, and our products.” It was indeed a beautiful image that was left in my mind after the event. She went on to say, “The goal of the Colombia Luxury Lifestyle Show this year is to introduce New Yorkers to what Colombia has to offer, focusing on our fashion, beauty, health and tourism opportunities.”

A series of three fashion shows began at 8pm, starting off with Pitahaya Swimwear. Spring 2011 collection.  Founded about five years ago, this was the first time designer Chechy Beneditti showcased her beautiful swimwear in New York. The sexy looks have already been featured in Marie Claire, Elle, as well as many other publications.

Before the next show we got a special live performance by Latin Grammy Nominated Colombian musician, Andres Cabas. Although I was not familiar with his work, the crowd absolutely adored him! Cabas performed a medley of songs while playing a gorgeous white piano.

Next up, Silvia Alfonzo‘s Spring 2011 collection owned the catwalk. According to her, the designs are made for the “feminine and sophisticated woman”. She began the line in 2007, and has several stores in Colombia. You can see her work disturbed across the world in boutiques and it was a special treat for all in attendance.

Last but not least on the runway was Edwing D’Angelo‘s collection preview. D’Angelo is a custom designer for celebrities such as Patti LaBelle, Winoma Judd, Vivica A. Fox, and more. He is well known for colorful Latin flare and has been featured in various movies, television networks, and magazines across the globe. The crowd was wooed by D’Angelo’s craftwork for both men and women. I loved how the collection was so versatile and unique with every look that passed.

Other Designers featured throughout the night included: Silvia Tcherassi, Amelia Toro, Isabel Henao, Francesca Miranda, Jean Pascal by Helena Quintana, Angel Yañez, Pepa Pombo, Adriana Santacruz and Hernan Zajar. Handcrafts were featured by: FRANCISCO EL HOMBRE, Hilda Gómez, CF Artesanos. Health and beauty was covered by Smile Designer Marlon Becerra, Plastic Surgeon Alan Gonzalez, Dentistry by Antonio Leon, and many more. Colombian tourism at the event was represented by the Departments (states) of Santander, Guajira, Tolima, and the Natural Parks and Reserves of Colombia.

Special thanks to ALIOMI and for inviting me to such an amazing event! It was an incredible experience to see Colombia’s best right in my own city. Colombia is filled with rich culture and divine fashion; I need to book a flight ASAP!
